Facebook just got $500 million richer. Goldman Sachs and an unnamed Russian investor reportedly invested that amount, bringing the social network’s total value to $50 billion.
Severe flooding in Australia has killed 3 people and left thousands of others homeless. Relief teams are working to get food and supplies to the city of Rockhampton which has been cut off by flood waters. Meteorologists say it could be days before conditions improve.
Scientists in Beebe, Arkansas are investigating the death of 5,000 birds that fell out of the sky on New Year’s Eve. Although official necropsy reports haven’t been completed, some experts theorize bad weather including lightning or high altitude hail could be to blame.
If you constantly refer to “viral” videos you may be in hot water with Lake Superior State University, “I’m just saying.” The school’s annual list of banished words and phrases aims to eradicate the use of annoying words. “Viral” topped this year’s list, followed closely by “epic,” “fail,” and of course, “I’m just saying.”
