Here’s a look at today’s top stories…

Homonyms Can be so Tricky

A University of Florida student got the shock of a lifetime after he “Googled” himself. The search results found a picture of Zachary Garcia and listed him as wanted for murder, a crime Garcia didn’t commit. Police in Polk County, Florida mixed up Garcia’s picture and name with the real suspect, Zachery Garcia.

“Times Square to Art Square”

A Dutch student has a plan for New York’s Time Square: he wants to turn it into an art exhibit. Justus Bruns and fellow art lovers want to bring art to the masses by buying up the ad space at the famous intersection and replacing it with works of art. To accomplish that, they’ll need to raise $24 million – so far the group has just over $1,300.

Bringing Down the Bank

The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, says the website’s next big leak will detail the unethical actions of a “big U.S. bank.” Investors don’t seem to be too worried about the revelation, since banks have been under scrutiny since the financial crisis hit. One blogger off-handedly remarked on the news, “What are we going to find in these leaks — that free checking isn’t really free?”

Rest in Peace

Kim Kardashian, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga are dead, sort of. The stars are doing their part to raise money for “Keep a Child Alive,” a charity for children with AIDS, by making a “digital sacrifice.” They’re logging off Facebook and Twitter until $1,000,000 is raised for the organization. They’ve made last “tweets and testaments” and posed for a provocative ad campaign lying in coffins.
