Assuming your university hasn’t raised fees, and you have the money to study abroad…you may want to renew your passport before a proposed rate hike takes effect. If approved, the cost of renewals would jump to $110 from $75. If you’re getting a new passport you could pay $135, instead of the $100 it costs now. And if you’re just fed up and want to renounce your American citizenship that will cost you $450 (it used to be free).
Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet is visiting areas devastated by Saturday’s earthquake. President Bachelet says she wants to make sure aid gets to the people who need it. The 8.8 magnitude quake killed more than 800 people.
