Here’s a look at today’s top stories…
Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is urging anyone who is concerned about driving a recalled Toyota to take it to their dealership to be repaired. Toyota says they’ve found a way to fix faulty accelerators by reinforcing the pedal with a new part.
In Pakistan a roadside blast killed 7 people, including three U.S. service members and three children. They were part of a convoy heading to the opening of a school.
Recession? What recession? Mega yacht builders Emocean Yacht Design unveiled plans to construct a new vessel, one that’s nearly the size of two football fields. The “Project 1000” would include: a swimming pool, health spa, night club, casino, helipad, drive in garage, movie theater and could accommodate 45 guests and 70 crew members. As of yet no one has ordered the boat. Small wonder… the cost could be as high as $900 million.
If you’re an aspiring journalist, the Pulitzer Center and YouTube may have a competition for you. “Project: Report 2010” is challenging budding Katie Courics and Anderson Coopers to report on a person they feel has positively affected their community. 10 semi-finalists will receive a Sony VAIO computer, an HD video camera and will advance to the next round of the contest. Five winners will receive $10,000 to travel with the Pulitzer Center and work on an international project.
