Here’s a look at today’s top stories…
President Obama has admitted that the prison at Guantanamo Bay won’t be closed by January, but more detainees are being transferred to other institutions. 12 inmates are being relocated to facilities in Yemen, Afghanistan and Somaliland, bringing the number of detainees at Gitmo to below 200.
Death Investigation to Continue
The L.A. coroner says Brittany Murphy seems to have died of natural causes. Yesterday morning the 32 year old actress was found unconscious in her home and pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In addition to the autopsy, authorities will be looking into her medical records for more answers in her untimely death.
Travelers may be relieved with a new Department of Transportation rule. The DOT says U.S. airlines on domestic routes can’t keep passengers on the tarmac for more than 3 hours, unless there are safety or security reasons preventing the plane from returning to the terminal.
It’s a nationwide search for talented computer hackers. This year’s U.S. Cyber Challenge champ is Chris Bennedict, a 21 year old from Illinois. The competition was developed to find young hackers and encourage them to pursue jobs in cyber security.
