Here’s a look at today’s top stories…
Police are still searching for three missing softball players from Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Kyrstin Gemar, Afton Williamson and Ashley Neufeld may have gone star gazing near Patterson Lake on Sunday. A friend of the three women apparently received two phone calls from them before the line went dead, then the friend called 911 to say the women needed help.
Former Bosnian-Serb leader Radovan Karadzic says he won’t take part in the International War Crimes Tribunal against him. Karadzic is accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Karadzic was captured over a year ago in Belgrade after living for more than 13 years on the lam.
Johnson & Johnson is eliminating between 7,000 and 8,000 jobs in an effort to cut costs. Most of the layoffs will be made overseas, according to execs. The move is expected to save the company up to $1.7 billion by 2011. That money will be used to finance drug research and other investments.
Next time someone tells you to cheer up, hit them with this: new research says that people in a bad mood are less gullible, more attentive and have a better memory. That’s something to smile about… or not.
