A new assault ship made with over 7 tons of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center will be docked in New York through Veterans Day. The USS New York weighs more than 25,000 tons and is the length of two football fields. The ship also features an image of the Twin Towers and the words, “Never Forget.”
Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai won’t face a runoff for another term in office after all. Despite widespread complaints of corruption, his reaming challenger withdrew from the election.
Good news for Ford. The car company actually reported $873 million in profits for the third quarter. Execs say cost cutting and projected car sales will make the company, “solidly profitable” by 2011.

Officials in Bulgaria are cracking down against a new gambling phenomenon known as “Russian Road Roulette.” Drivers place bets, then try to defy death by speeding through red lights.
