UConn Murder Arrest

Police in Connecticut have arrested a man they say is responsible for the death of UConn cornerback Jasper Howard. John William Lomax is facing two charges: one for murder and one for his involvement in a fight outside of a UConn-sponsored dance that lead to the stabbing.

Log On, Lose Job

Two Northwest pilots who overshot their destination by 150 miles said they lost track of time and their location because they were using laptops…INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON FLYING! The flight was carrying 144 passengers and was en route from San Diego to Minneapolis.

Power to the People

President Obama is awarding $3.4 billion in grants from the stimulus budget to build a “smart” electric grid. 100 companies will receive amounts ranging from $200,000 to $200 million to update power grids, substations and transformers. The grants are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs.

U.S. Finally Interested in Soccer

We may have lost out on the Olympics, but if the U.S. hosts the World Cup, we could win big. The game is expected to bring in $500 billion in revenue and create between 65,000 and 100,000 new jobs. The U.S. is bidding to host either the 2018 or the 2022 tournament.
