Trailers from Hell is for the people who actually sit there and watch Directors Commentaries and DVD behind-the-scenes featurettes. Basically, the site is a place where real Hollywood directors talk about the movies they loved as kids. Sometimes, it’s easy to see the connection between the trailer and the director’s own work (for instance, Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead, talks about the zombie classic Day of the Dead). But sometimes it’s more fun when the director and the movie seem completely unrelated (John Landis, the guy behind Animal House and The Blues Brothers, talks about John Wayne’s final western).

By the way, don’t let the title of the site fool you. Although there are plenty of trailers for wince-inducingly awful films, there are also lots of trailers for genuine masterpieces. Check out Hostel director Eli Roth’s breakdown of Hitchcock’s bizarre trailer for The Birds.
